It’s Ok To Mention The Waugh, O’Keeffe, Croxford And Bennison

When it comes to Australian sport, there are a number of families including Waughs, Ablett’s, Daniher’s and the Chappell’s, just to name a few, that everyone has heard of. As umpires often look at the teamsheets before our games and we see common surnames. Quite often brothers or cousins play in the same team. Recently the RDFL had a father son combo of Jamie and Tierone Cuffe playing for the Sunbury Kangaroos. Football is a family sport, quite often mum or dad is on the sideline cheering or is filling in as the goal umpire, doing a stint in the canteen or is on the committee helping to run the club.

Riddell umpires is a place to keep fit, make new friends and participate in Australia’s number 1 sport. It is also a place for families. At times in life you want to get away from your family, however at the Riddell umpires, this is barely the case. In 2013 alone, there were over 20 family groups, including brothers, brother and sister, father and daughter and father and son combinations. In the past we have also had mother and son and husband and wife combinations. They are often in different disciplines however sometimes they find themselves competing with each other for that coveted finals selection.
